Come in and check out these latest additions to our lending library:

Attention Deficit Disorder and Learning Disabilities by Barbara D. Ingersoll, Ph.D., and Sam Goldstein, Ph.D. This comprehensive handbook details the causes, symptoms, and diagnoses of ADD and LD, then explores and critiques possible treatments from stimulant medications to sugar-free diets and from EEG biofeedback to vitamin supplements. Doctors Ingersoll and Goldstein evaluate the effectiveness of the treatments as well as demystify the often-confusing scientific jargon.

Better IEPs, How to Develop Legally Correct and Educationally Useful Programs by Barbara D. Bateman and Mary Anne Linden. A definitive guide to understanding and writing Individualized Education Programs. It presents a powerful, three-step process that focuses on the individual student and avoids the all too common routinized approach to program development. This "how-to" guide empowers both educators and parents to plan for and provide an appropriate education that reflects each child's unique needs.

L.D. From the Inside Out: A Survival Guide for Parents by Carolyn Lampman Brubaker. At last, a user-friendly guide for parents of children with learning disabilities. From homework and special projects to chores and IEP meetings, this book covers it all. Inside you will find dozens of tried and true strategies, checklists to help guide you, and heartwarming stories of other kids who have fought the LD monster and won. This book will change the way you look at learning disabilities forever. It will help you see your child for the intelligent, creative person he is, and to recognize his unique gifts. Most importantly, it will give you back the hope of a bright future for your child.

Beyond Consequences, Logic, and Control - A Love Based Approach to Helping Children With Severe Behaviors by Heather T. Forbes, LCSW and B. Bryan Post, PhD, LCSW. The authors address some of the most pressing and challenging issues faced by parents of children with histories of disrupted attachments.  This book is an absolute necessity for every parent working through attachment issues, and for every professional (therapist, caseworker, teacher, policy maker, etc.) working with children who exhibit severe acting-out behaviors.
