We are seeking a dedicated Learning Disabilities Specialist to work with students struggling with learning disabilities, ADHD, or general academic challenges. In this after-school role, you’ll provide remediation, homework support, and strategy instruction that helps students build confidence and succeed.
Position Overview
As a Learning Disabilities Specialist, you will work with students after school in 50-minute, one-on-one sessions, providing targeted remediation and homework assistance. You’ll help students understand how they learn best, reteach essential skills, and close gaps in academic understanding.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized, one-on-one academic support to students with learning disabilities or academic struggles
- Teach effective learning strategies and provide remediation in reading, writing, math, and executive functioning
- Support students with homework completion while reinforcing and reteaching key concepts
- Create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel confident and supported
- Communicate with parents, teachers, and other professionals regarding student progress
- Work intentionally to strengthen foundational skills and close learning gaps
Qualifications
- Degree and/or certification in learning disabilities, special education, or a related field
- Experience working with students with learning disabilities, ADHD, or academic difficulties (preferred)
- Strong understanding of IEPs, learning strategies, and remediation techniques
- Excellent communication skills, patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs
Hours & Schedule
- 2–4 days per week
- After-school hours
- 50-minute student sessions
- Flexible afternoon and early-evening scheduling
